Description: Attributed to the artist village of Raghurajpur (Odisha). This is a high-quality execution in the traditional Pattachitra painting style on lacquered fabric. The reverse side is a uniform brick-red/brown.
The deck consists of 10 suits dedicated to the ten incarnations (Avatars) of Lord Vishnu. Each suit contains 12 cards: 10 numeral cards (pips 1-10) and 2 court cards (Raja/King and Mantri/Minister). While the court cards depict the deity, the numeral cards display only the respective suit symbols in the corresponding quantity.
The following suit symbols exist (in this order): 1 & 2 (Matsya & Kurma): Hybrid beings where the human torso merges into a fish and a tortoise, respectively. 3 & 4 (Varaha & Narasimha): Anthropomorphic figures with the heads of a boar and a lion. 5, 6, 7 & 8 (Vamana, Parashurama, Rama & Balarama): Representations of the deity with their signature attributes: Water pot, Axe, Bow, and Plough. 9 (Buddha): Stylized representation as a ritual vase with the lotus flower as the suit symbol. 10 (Kalki): The future saviour, depicted as a horse with a dagger on its back, which also serves as the suit symbol.
Beschreibung: Indisches Dashavatar Ganjapa (Odisha-Stil)
Aus dem Künstlerdorf Raghurajpur (Odisha); vom Künstler selbst verkauft. Es handelt sich um eine qualitativ hochwertige Ausführung in traditioneller Pattachitra-Malerei auf lackiertem Gewebe. Die Rückseite ist einheitlich in einem ziegel-rotbräunlichen Ton gehalten.
Das Deck umfasst 10 Farbzeichen, die den zehn Inkarnationen (Avataren) des Gottes Vishnu gewidmet sind. Jede Farbe besteht aus 12 Karten: 10 Zahlenkarten (Werte 1-10) und 2 Hofkarten (Raja/König und Mantri/Minister). Während die Hofkarten die jeweilige Gottheit abbilden, zeigen die Zahlenkarten ausschließlich das dazugehörige Farbsymbol in der entsprechenden Anzahl.
Folgende Farbzeichen gibt es (in dieser Reihenfolge): 1 & 2 (Matsya & Kurma): Mischwesen, bei denen der menschliche Oberkörper in einen Fisch bzw. eine Schildkröte übergeht. 3 & 4 (Varaha & Narasimha): Anthropomorphe Figuren mit den Tierköpfen eines Ebers bzw. Löwen. 5, 6, 7 & 8 (Vamana, Parashurama, Rama & Balarama): Darstellung der Gottheit mit seinen Attributen: Wasserkanne, Axt, Bogen und Pflug. 9 (Buddha): Stilisierte Darstellung als rituelle Vase mit der Lotosblüte als Farbsymbol. 10 (Kalki): Der künftige Retter, hier dargestellt durch ein Pferd mit einem Dolch auf dem Rücken, der zugleich sein Symbol ist.
